Chalet Loolaan, a few steps from the city center with the regal atmosphere of Apeldoorn, houses four luxury apartments and an attic and integrates with the two century-old buildings that flank it thanks to its rural and contemporary expression and its strong character

Loolaan Chalet is an exclusive residence just a short stroll from Apeldoorn town centre. The building is constructed on a sizeable plot of land measuring approximately 2700 m² and contains four luxury apartments and an attic. The residence overlooks the beautiful Loolaan Boulevard among centuries-old monumental buildings that have been renovated and inhabited as residences. A modern, abstract building would not fit well into this road being surrounded by such special dwellings. The building, with its rural and contemporary expression, must therefore be able to stand on its own with strength of character.

I’M Architecten of Deventer was responsible for the design, which was inspired by the architecture of Swiss chalets in a modern version with the elegant look of a large villa. The vertical arrangement of the building fits well among the existing buildings along Loolaan Boulevard. The black steel of the fittings and railing detail give the building a contemporary look

I’M architects selected murogeopietra® manufactured stone veneer to cover the façades. An important topic for the architect Martin Kleine Schaars, who prefers ecological materials that minimise our footprint on Earth. The façades made of the murogeopietra® CAMUNA model are installed on insulation in a stunning combination with glazing that reaches the roof. Murogeopietra® is a diverse, innovative product that requires no maintenance, is made exclusively of pure materials and colours, and finished by hand to create a craft product. Its natural character is remarkable, as are the technical benefits provided by the cladding system.
