Roma Cruise Terminal. Advanced infrastructure for the smart tourist
From18th May 2018, Civitavecchia cruise port boasts the presence of the Terminal Amerigo Vespucci, one of the largest of Europe with its 11.000sq. A great project that starts from the concept of making the sea and light integral parts of the project thanks to large glass surfaces
The philosophy behind the design and construction of the structure is to start the holiday in the terminal, offering at first impact a spacious, well-lit, airy and welcoming
The architectural concept, conceived by Studio Vicini Architects in Genoa, author of several other terminals, proposes the perimeter walls as continuous glass strips, from floor to ceiling, to connect as much as possible with the wonderful context, making the presence of the sea on two sides almost tangible
For the finishing of the floor the idea was to find a material that would adapt well to the energetic and modern environment, with prerogatives of high resistance, the choice fell on the porcelain stoneware HQ. Resin Maximum by FIANDRE Architectural Surfaces, the new collection that looks particularly similar to the aesthetics and characteristics of the resin
The special 100x100cm size of the brown-brown slabs perfectly met expectations, emphasizing the continuity of the wide and spacious open layout, virtually without interruption of continuity, for an excellent result of uniformity
The tone-on-tone surface conferred the contemporary touch that the architects were looking for. The very high performance of the product is well adapted to the situation of heavy traffic (12,000 people per day and about 3 million per year) thanks to its resistance. The thickness of only 6 mm, easy and quick to install, was another valuable contribution to the very short times.
