Residence in wood and stone

Wood and stone residence in the United States. Simple shapes with modern design

The Samsel Architects studio was inspired by traditional prairie motifs to design this residence in South Carolina. The predominant theme is horizontal lines and the substantial presence of wood, which makes it modern, simple and welcoming

The Cliffs in Walnut Cove is surrounded by a golf course and its position is discreet because it is behind the road, closer to footpaths and a pond. Using cedar cladding and Tennessee fieldstone, a warm colour palette is created that blends in harmoniously with its surroundings

The house is designed in the shape of an L on a sloping terrain. The interior spaces also use a monochromatic colouring, accentuated by the soft tones of grey wood, minimalist finishes and covering details. All this forms the perfect setting for the owner's art collection

The master suite can be shut down from the rest of the house, offering the owners a private sanctuary. The colour and design of the bedroom furniture is reflected in the main bathroom furniture to create cohesion between the two rooms

There is a large hall in the middle of this house. The large window wall provides a magnificent view, creating a strong connection to the outside. White materials are used throughout the kitchen space to create a sense of separation and contrast. The asymmetrical waterfall ceiling serves as a focal point for the kitchen. The custom-made concrete dining table is aligned with a fireplace in a unique position
