A house project for a brother and sister: preserving the frugality of the past while adding new freedom

A house for a brother and sister. A house, but not quite: a place with a free identity, which is not identified from the role of dwelling while remaining a space for relationships where memories can be built

Bongiana Architetture's recovery and restoration project has as its object an old farmhouse located in the countryside of northern Italy, near Padua. The home for a brother and sister is a space for human relationships, for living together on weekends, for parties, for barbecues. A country residence where to grow a vegetable garden and have family parties

The project has maintained the importance of the central open space, the traditional farmyard where farmers' activities took place while simultaneously serving as a "playground" for the little ones. Around this area they share the two dwellings are developed, while at the same time maintaining the necessary privacy

Both residences maintain a brutalist character: they are emptied, keeping the structure bare, and two double-height rooms are obtained. The designers design some details such as the iron lamps, the concrete kitchen, with the intention of keeping alive the sobriety and simplicity of the original building, while giving it new freedom
