To limit the impact of the Ecological Holiday Home project on the surrounding natural environment, it is possible to rely on 11 poles supporting the construction, its organic shapes and the use of natural materials

Ecological Holiday Home is located in an area designated for weekend homes. POLYGOON Architectuur studio sought to build a vacation home that would integrate as much as possible with the surrounding forest, to limit the impact of the architecture on the environment as much as possible

The building floats half a meter above the ground, supported by 11 poles, and can be supplemented with two additional poles to make a terrace. The footprint of the house is limited to only 65 m, and to give the space an organic and delicate feel, the architects opted for a pentagonal plan with three obtuse corners

The roof is single-pitch, and offers a height of 7 meters at the rear of the volume. Ecological Holiday Home is 100% built according to the principles of ecological construction, with renewable materials: the wooden skeleton was prepared by the carpenter while the modules were assembled in 5 days.

Local wood was the budget-friendly choice: easily renewable wood that would further reduce the client's costs. Even the windows are wood, and the roof is made of fiberboard topped with fiber cement sheets

The entire house is relocatable, recyclable, and biodegradable, and this project demonstrates that building green and small-scale can go hand in hand with comfort, smart use of space, and architectural beauty
