Sigurd Larsen, in his design of The mountain house, envisions complete access to the green meadows from the living areas of the house. The key elements of the design are a wooden bench in the kitchen, an essential part of an Austrian house, and the staircase, which is the heart of the house

The Austrian, elegant mountain house frames the extraordinary Alpine landscape panoramas at many points, surrounding the residents of the house
The only terrace is at the end of the narrow house, above an existing foundation. The rest of the glass facade allows direct access between the common areas and the green lawns. On the lower level, a few self-supporting walls serve as large pieces of furniture in order to divide and organize the cooking and living areas as well as supporting the overhanging gabled house
The end point of the house is on the upper level: a covered corridor leads into the house at the point where the private and common areas meet. The high ceiling rooms accommodate a range of beds and provide stunning views of the mountains to the south or to the pine forest further uphill on the northern side
