Writer's Cabin: writing children's books wrapped in sinuous wooden lines

Writer's Cabin, an architecture with extremely evocative shapes, is designed for a children's book writer, where the simple lines of the envelope wrap around the rich and complex wooden interior

The project in question offered MuDD Architects an interesting opportunity to experiment with a new way of doing architecture, where digital fabrication is combined with highly skilled master builders. The result is Writer's Cabin, featuring the forms of a cabin with contemporary features

The very simple lines of the exterior wrap around a continuous, sinuously shaped interior of local maple wood.  The enclosure is made of bent and oxidized iron, with the finishes and color tones being adjusted by the degree of oxidation

The frame of each main facade is custom made, allowing the laminated glass to offer a total integration between the house and the garden, which is rich in different types of plants, colors and seasons. The most characteristic part of the house is the sinuous wooden shelves, which are tailored to the high sloping roofs
