Aluminium leather suspended in the lobby of a Cruise Ship. Extraordinary lightness

Marc Fornes / Theverymany creates a work that combines art and architecture, exploiting the lightness of aluminium, which is suspended between the 16 bridges of the ship. An interplay of fluorescent colours that intersect to detach the viewer from their daily lives

The piece is located in one of the two lobbies of the "Harmony of the Seas", which forms a transverse section of the ship, where the 16 bridges face each other and where the different flows converge. The experience it offers is related to the observation point, the design of Tour de Force(s) and the intensity of its fluorescence that have the same objective of the same cruise: to detach a person from his family and daily life

Tour de Force (s) is designed through the tension of the "meshes" that are anchored in 23 fixed points and subjected to physical forces, resulting in a curved 3D perimeter. As the sculpture rises through the lobby's back column, a juxtaposition of colours is revealed

Tour de Force(s) is conceived more as an architectural skin than as a work of art. Completely stretched once applied, aluminum does not necessarily require a great thickness. The artificial thickening, however, provides resistance to transportation and rapid processing, distinguishing this leather from a temporary installation piece
