Panoramic single-family house. Wooden Architecture overlooking the Sea

Built in the village of Caraquet, Les Jumelles are two small twin buildings built by the YH2 studio in Canada, to create a single-family house oriented towards the panoramic view of the Baie-des-Chaleurs

Les Jumelles are both a quiet haven in the nature facing the sea and an architectural addition in the context of the historic village of Acadian, Caraquet. The site of the project is located just a couple of hundred meters from the village church and less than 60 meters from the fine sand beaches

A simple and essential architecture, inspired by the vernacular architecture of Acadi, the house is composed of volumes with a twin appearance. The small buildings covered with metal sheets can be found in one of the last natural buildings in the village

The first building, most of which has a window on its southern façade, contains the living spaces, while its sister, which opens at its northern end, contains the bedrooms and the garage

The twin houses, common to Acadian architecture, are parallel to each other and are connected only by a glass passage that serves as a workspace offering a panoramic view of the sea

Its displacement between the twin sisters and its length offers the right amount of privacy between the buildings, while also creating a courtyard for sunbathing protected from the often violent winds of the area
