Water Disinfection Systems
Grundfos Oxiperm is a range of on-site production and dosing systems for chlorine dioxide (ClO₂), designed for water disinfection in drinking water and various industrial applications. The technology effectively combats microorganisms, legionella, and biofilm present in plants and water networks.
Chlorine dioxide is produced on-site using diluted solutions of sodium chlorite and hydrochloric acid, and then dosed into the water to be treated.
Oxiperm Pro for Chlorine Dioxide Production
Oxiperm Pro (OCD-162) produces chlorine dioxide using diluted solutions of sodium chlorite (NaClO₂ 7.5%) and hydrochloric acid (HCl 9%). The range includes four production capacities: 5, 10, 30, and 60 g/h of ClO₂, allowing treatment of up to 150 m³/h of drinking water at a maximum concentration of 0.4 mg/l of ClO₂.
Chlorine dioxide is generated based on the actual needs of the plant. The produced solution is stored in an integrated or external batch tank and then introduced into the network using the integrated dosing pump or an external pump.
For industrial applications with higher production requirements, the range also includes Oxiperm OCC 164, with chlorine dioxide production capacities ranging from 150 to 2,500 g/h.
Water Disinfection and Biofilm Control
Chlorine dioxide is an effective solution for disinfecting water systems, thanks to its action against various types of microorganisms and its ability to maintain disinfectant effects over time.
One of the main advantages is its action against biofilms in pipelines. The treatment helps remove existing biofilm, limiting conditions favorable for microorganism proliferation and preventing further formation.
Oxiperm Pro is used in legionella prevention and control, disinfection of drinking water and cooling water, as well as in numerous industrial processes.
In the Food & Beverage sector, chlorine dioxide can be used for disinfecting process water, in CIP systems, and bottle washing operations, without altering the taste and odor of the treated water.
Compact System and Operating Cost Reduction
Oxiperm Pro features a compact design that allows installation even in small spaces. Key management and maintenance operations are carried out at the front, facilitating system accessibility.
The chlorine dioxide production technology is designed to use minimal amounts of chemicals. The system can provide a up to 67% reduction in hydrochloric acid usage compared to systems of comparable capacity and up to 90% lower operating costs compared to thermal disinfection.
The produced solution has a chlorine dioxide concentration of 2 g/l (2,000 ppm) and can be stored for several days.
Control, Installation, and Application Flexibility
Oxiperm Pro is designed for integrating measurement and control systems. Devices can be installed for monitoring chlorine dioxide, pH, or Redox potential, facilitating treatment parameter control.
Optional accessories also simplify assembly and startup operations. In certain configurations, the system can be connected and put into operation without interrupting the building's water supply, a particularly useful feature in facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes.
The robust design and intuitive control system contribute to operational reliability and reduced maintenance needs. In addition to continuous operation, the option to use an external
