Renovation of a modernist cottage. The House of Cats, a playful space for humans and their pets

The House of the Cats is a Mexican-themed house in Australia, which was created from the renovation of a 1970s modernist cottage for a travel-loving couple and their four furry friends: two dogs and two cats

The structural changes to be made were clear to the architets di WOWOWA, who were tasked with the Cat House renovation project: open up the back of the house to allow perception and experience of the entire lot; create a corridor leading to the master bedroom and bathroom; and finally, bring as much light as possible into the interior of the residence. The use of mirrors, in addition to the already present theme of skylights, which is re-proposed, ensure that the new light requirements in the small master bedroom and bathroom are met

The corridor is also completely lined with mirrors, creating a playful sense of disorientation; above the mirrors, a wooden mini-passerelle allows the cats to experience the house in their own way and the human inhabitants to perceive their residence as a playful space
