New food court in Holland. Vibrant space to enjoy meetings and local flavors

In Den Haag, a coastal city in the Netherlands overlooking the North Sea, the Modijefsky Studio designs the interior of a restaurant located in the luxurious shopping area of Haagsche Bluf featuring contrasting architectural styles.

The food court spans three adjacent buildings, connecting multiple levels. The new design simplifies the original "forest" of existing columns, beams and stairs by transforming the dark, low interior into an open public space, strongly inspired by the traditions of Europe's largest squares

All the elements that can be found in typical urban squares, such as suggestive paving, fountains, stairs, stalls, statues have been chosen, and each of them has been transformed into a contemporary architectural component creating a design style that connects the various spaces

The reference point of the space is the bar, centrally located and divided into the main bar overlooking the entrances and a more private bar, a sort of cocktail bar. Both volumes are refined with bronze, red marble and terracotta tiles, which are blended with the floor and the plinths of the columns

Another structural element that has been reinvented as a social place is a large staircase, made of wood and mosaic tiles, which is visible from various points within the space and encourages people to explore the bar upstairs. Every nook and cranny of the space has been carefully designed, offering endless possibilities for encounters.
