Multi-level design
A residential area in the city of Ljubljana, Slovenia, on the border between the city center and the suburbs, is home to Step Level House, exploiting the 2.5 meter difference in height between the street level and the lot. The architects of OFIS met the needs of their client, a Slovenian-English family who wanted to design two living areas: one for reception and welcoming guests, accessible from street level, and another for daily family life, on the same level as the garden
Pragmatic architectural organization
The architectural organization of the house also reflects the pragmatic one. The ground floor is used for meetings or activities, while the core of family domestic life is on the lower floor, where the kitchen and living room are visually and spatially connected with the patio and garden. Each main activity is associated with a terrace
