The Casa Nogal project involves the transformation of a terraced house, located in the northwest area of Madrid, which needed more light and connection between its multiple levels

Zooco Estudio resolves the fundamental issue of Casa Nogal, identified in an excessive depth, through the opening of a vertical void that crosses the three levels of the house. More than 12 meters of depth of the volume made especially the ground floor, dedicated to the living area, lacking in sufficient natural lighting

By creating an internal opening, conceived as a lantern, the three floors housing the living area, sleeping area, and office are interconnected. This volumetric subtraction allows for deeper illumination of the ground floor, visually connecting, both vertically and horizontally with the outside, the different environments

Along with this new concept of living space, more fluid and less separated, a very clear and rigorous material duo is used for the interiors of Casa Nogal: oak wood and white. With these two materials, all environments are shaped, meeting the needs of each one: for example, storage, seating, support surfaces, etc. The reduced and minimalist use of textures and colors generates calm, serene spaces, leading to a harmonious language in all areas of the house
