The enchanting garden of a holiday property in the South Hams, Devon, is home to a cedar wood cabin: 15 square meters of wonderfully accessory space to traditional living, made so thanks to the welcoming atmosphere and meticulous attention to detail.
Designed by Out of the Valley to be enjoyed throughout all seasons, the clients wanted to create a space for leisure and refreshment, as in similar architectural projects it was important that the shape and materials echoed and harmonized with the main house.
Lined with local cedar, this cozy retreat is built to offer an alternative space, in direct dialogue with the external nature, to enjoy time together and socialize. A beverage preparation area and a covered porch equipped with a barbecue make the small building spontaneously the ideal place for long and lazy summer lunches.
In cooler weather conditions, a wood stove and underfloor heating installed beneath the pleasant wooden flooring make the cabin a cozy corner of the world to read and play board games. A snug bench, carefully fitted to the space, forms a comfortable spot to enjoy a majestic view of the valley through the oak sliding doors that open the facade to the southern sun.
The garden, once neglected, is brought back to life thanks to the presence of the cabin, defined by the homeowners as a work of art for its ability to revive the place, making it a new attractive hub in living on the estate, providing relaxation and opportunities for celebration in equal measure.
