Fôret, the artistic installation that integrates forest and city

The Forêt project is born as an intervention aimed at raising awareness of the real and radical detachment between nature and the city. Thanks to 30 laminated pine panels, the mecanismo architecture studio creates an urban forest that can be permeated and crossed.

Interpenetration between nature and urban fabric

The realization of the project places it fully among the artistic outdoor installations that emphasize the contrast and interpenetration between nature and urban fabric. Located in front of the Saint-Sever church in Rouen, France, it has as its starting point 30 laminated pine panels which, organized with simple geometric rules, give rise to an organic and complex space designed by the Madrid-based architecture studio mecanismo.

The forest enters the city

This new ecosystem takes advantage of the urban void and generates a sort of forest that citizens can permeate and traverse, with lights, shadows, and spatial diversity. The panels have been positioned to form an orthogonal grid, and subsequently, angles of varying sizes have been cut.

Pine wood panels and mirrors

From the original rectangular panels, several triangular pieces have been obtained, which, when combined, give rise to rhomboidal shapes that generate "trees" with a height exceeding 4 meters. To create greater visual complexity, some panels incorporate mirrors of different shades, recreating the color of the autumn forest.
