Welcoming, living, resting: three functions of living that define architecture

Welcoming, living and resting are transformed into three wooden blocks thanks to the project by Daida Design studio. Surrounded by abundant nature and a sense of serenity, the landscape is incorporated into the architecture in countless ways

Daida Design Studio designs just under 300 square meters of housing in the Japanese town of Kutchan, 2 miles south of the ski resort of Niseko. The house is divided into three blocks: the reception block, the block containing the living area and the block intended for evening rest

The three separate blocks have a small connection point, a buffer zone to move from one space to another. When planning, the beautiful surrounding landscape is incorporated in a variety of ways. Each room has a wide variety of views, and the living room in particular features a large window overlooking the landscape
