The Danish House of Grain: Cultivating Agri-Food Culture

Kornets Hus, or House of Grain, is a cultural center nestled in the agricultural heart of Denmark. Designed to provide inspiration and education on the crucial significance of grains, not only in Danish history but also for the entirety of human civilization, this center provides a vibrant environment for engaging learning opportunities and baking workshops

Functional Design

Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter AS organizes the House of Grain around a simple, flexible floor plan that allows for a wide variety of activities and functions. The architectural form of the cultural center derives from research into the rich Danish landscape, folk culture and agricultural heritage of the region

Blending Architecture with Landscape

The center of the structure is defined by its two brick-lined light wells, which reinterpret bakers' ovens. The interior is designed to open up to the vast expanse of wheat fields to the west, framing views outward and opening onto the terrace
