House Aichi: dynamic architecture and innovative design

A site characterized by an irregular shape due to the diagonally crossing streets, becomes the location for an exceptional house with dynamic forms in Aichi, Japan. This project, designed by Studio Velocity, is intended to meet the needs of couples and families, showcasing how an innovative design can adapt to unconventional starting conditions.

Privacy and Interaction with the Outside

The building perfectly adapts to the irregular lot and the limited height of the surrounding hedges. The architects at Studio Velocity chose to keep the building's height lower than the surrounding vegetation level. This decision ensures the privacy of the inhabitants while offering completely transparent facades that promote a strong visual connection with the outside, emphasizing the concept of privacy in architecture.

The wooden structure: lightness and strength

The choice to use wooden beams and columns for the building's structure not only reflects a well-established tradition in Japanese architecture but also offers advantages in terms of lightness, strength, and sustainability. This aerial framework gives the building an imposing yet light and airy appearance, highlighting the importance of wooden structures in architectural projects of this kind.

Innovation and sustainability: the anti-seismic core

Particularly interesting is the approach to the anti-seismic core of the building, also designed to be lower than the hedges to harmoniously integrate with the surroundings without compromising safety. Twelve large roofs float above the vegetation, creating a dynamic and pleasant visual effect that respects the visual impact of the site. An excellent example of an anti-seismic project within the context of Japanese architecture.

Interior Dynamism and Convivial Spaces

The internal layout of the house reflects the external dynamism through spacious areas and an arrangement that promotes conviviality. The living room, dining room, and spaces dedicated to music and work are located at the center of the living structure, while the sleeping areas enjoy more privacy. This organization of internal spaces emphasizes the versatility and adaptability of the design, making the Aichi house a reference model for contemporary architecture.
