MIRO architects is in charge of the renovation of this penthouse, expanding the interior spaces and adapting them to a young family of four. The historic building in which it is located overlooks the hills and rooftops of the city, and thanks to the extraordinary penthouse terrace that runs along the main facade, an interpenetration with the interiors occurs

Just a few steps from Bologna's Two Towers, on Strada Maggiore, an apartment of more than 120 square meters spread over two floors becomes the penthouse with the city inside, thanks to the meticulous renovation that transforms the panorama into a scenography for its interiors
The honey yellow of the houses, the Bologna red and the green of the trees among which sprout the San Michele in Bosco, Asinelli and Garisenda become the daily setting for the penthouse's new inhabitants. A corner of the terrace is set up as an en plain air living room and communicates directly with the living area
The architects work on the project "by subtraction," freeing the space and the gaze to the landscape. In the living area, a single element contains and rearranges the fireplace,TV corner, storage room and bookcase: a white cabinet-bed on the outside and black on the inside that encloses everything necessary
The lighting design also follows the principle of synthesis: "very thin tracks carve the ceiling, limiting the decoration to a single light sculpture." The kitchen is light, consisting of two tables accessorized with a suspended cooktop, sink and drawers, replacing traditional massive volumes. The entire space is dedicated to the life and spectacle of the city, which here becomes home
