Color and art for the new ice cream parlor La Fragola in Sondrio

In the heart of the historic center of Sondrio, La Fragola reopens, a gelateria completely renovated in colors and shapes. A project that combines craftsmanship, art, and design to transform the space into a multisensory experience, blending taste, aesthetics, and conviviality.

A project that enhances the strategic position

Located between two pedestrian streets, La Fragola finds new life thanks to an intervention that aims to enhance its urban location. The walls and ceiling have been enveloped in a uniform chromatic covering, creating a soft box effect that welcomes visitors. A design approach by Fabio Gianoli Interior Designer, which transforms the space into an enveloping container, capable of capturing attention and enhancing the relationship with the city context.

The counter as a work of art

Ice cream is craftsmanship and art, and this concept is reflected in the central counter. The veins of the marble resemble the fluid movement of churning and the melting of the ice cream, in a direct reference to the creative gesture. Each preparation thus becomes an aesthetic performance, where material and color interact with the surrounding space.

Suggestions between painting and classicism

The gestures of the gelato maker evoke painting and classical tradition. For this reason, the furnishings intertwine with works of art that have strawberries as their theme, including a reproduction of the painting by Marc Chagall, Strawberries, Bella and Ida at the table. The artist, a master of color, interprets the fruit as a symbol of family joy and optimism, with different shades of red that interact with the new image of the gelateria. This intervention is part of those interior design projects capable of blending aesthetics and functionality, creating evocative and engaging atmospheres. To complete the setup, the mirror, a recurring element in Chagall's work, is used here to conceal the operational area and introduce the service area with elegance.

A versatile and welcoming space

The new identity of La Fragola goes beyond the traditional ice cream parlor: the environment is designed as a welcoming and versatile place, ideal at any time of the day. From the smell of coffee at breakfast, to a quick lunch between appointments, to transforming into a tea room or a refuge for an afternoon break. A project that combines design, art, and conviviality, giving the city a space that celebrates taste and beauty.
