A blue tower to reread the Modern

A measured and powerful intervention on a twentieth-century modernist villa, transforming it into a contemporary home for family life without betraying its original identity.

A vertical graft that reorganizes the space

The project signed by FELT concerns the restructuring of a mid-century modernist bungalow, reimagined to meet the needs of a contemporary family. The heart of the intervention is the introduction of a slender vertical tower, clad in blue ceramic tiles, which becomes the new distribution hub of the house. This element brings natural light and breath to a staggered level staircase, elegantly solving a crucial node of internal circulation and connecting the two main levels of the residence.

Offset levels and new domestic hierarchies

Thanks to the new spatial configuration, the horizontal floors - previously misaligned - find a harmonious composition. The upper levels clearly and functionally accommodate the night and day areas, while the partially underground floor houses practical functions and additional living spaces. It is a project that shows how even specific interventions can redefine the entire living experience, naturally fitting into the landscape of house renovation projects that reinterpret the Modern without nostalgia.

Materials, colors, and memory of the original project

On the outside, the windows have been replaced with new rust-colored aluminum fixtures, a chromatic reference to the original wooden carpentry. This choice interacts with the deep blue of the tower and the green of the surrounding garden. Inside, the house has been completely reimagined through a language that recovers the warmth and clarity of mid-century design, enriched by contemporary details and a calibrated palette that gives coherence and continuity to the whole.

Continuity and reinterpretation of the Modern

The original identity of the villa is never questioned, but rather enhanced. The contemporary addition does not overshadow the existing structure: it accompanies it, allowing for a new interpretation of modernist principles in light of current needs. The result is a residence that appears both renewed and deeply rooted in its own history, an emblematic example of FELT's approach, capable of combining design precision, material sensitivity, and respect for the context.
