A discreet corner palace in a residential neighborhood of Mexico City acquires charm and becomes a reference point and a safety point for passersby thanks to the renovation. The historic building C57-4 is transformed into elegant and modern residences with a common rooftop garden
The Boué Arquitectos team is in charge of the C57-4 historic house renovation, which involves both the exteriors, in a work of facade recovery, and the interiors in a complete reworking of the spaces. A hall with a sober and vaguely industrial look, characterized by the use of wood cladding and black metal details, leads to the elevators and the staircase of the vertical distribution core
At each level of the C57-4, wide corridors overlooking the inner courtyard have been created; this offers a common area enriched by the green flowerbed and the carpet of red bricks that contrast with the ones of the walls painted white. The guiding principle of the project is to keep the tones and shapes of the new interventions neutral and delicate, in order to make the original building the protagonist. The result is a clean, essential, and airy architecture; full of light and enriched by history
The rooftop garden, which follows the double level of the original building, constitutes a common space for relaxation from where to enjoy the view of the city rooftops. Thanks to the intervention, the building C57-4 comes back to life, giving passersby a new sense of security due to both the facade lighting project and the renewed vitality of the dwellings it contains
