Residential suites and shops in the Broadview Terraces building

In the east area of Toronto, currently undergoing significant expansion, a complex renovation combines three pre-existing buildings and transforms them into Broadview Terraces: 11 new rental suites and retail shops offer citizens new spaces that revitalise the neighborhood extensively

The new perforated metal facade

The renovation of the house Broadview Terraces is designed by Studio JCI and combines three buildings on Broadview Ave. Two of the three buildings were occupied by offices, while the last one was already housing 8 rental suites. The new perforated metal facade unifies the aesthetic of the block and provides privacy and shading to the spaces facing the street. At the back, a series of terraces serve the suites and offer views of a park and the valley

Integrating accommodations and services in harmony with the community

The 11 new suites feature spacious square footage and a value that meets market standards. The three buildings, all 3 stories high, are renovated for 50% of the total volume in an intervention that, compared to complete demolition and reconstruction, greatly reduces its carbon footprint. Wood and steel are used for the rebuilt parts. Broadview Terraces is a responsible architecture that renews the image of this stretch of road, also promoting retail commerce that has been penalized in recent decades in a process that has emptied city centers
