From a typical building of the "dispersed city" of the 1970s, the Condominio Alba B is transformed into contemporary architecture, both aesthetically and in terms of energy standards. A refined new technologically advanced skin gives it back to contemporaneity with a new identity always respectful of the context and pre-existing conditions
The requalification intervention of Condominio Alba B is carried out under the design of the Bologna-based studio CAT 24. Located in the residential area of San Giovanni in Persiceto in Bologna, the building originally had plastered facades and pitched roof. The modernization mainly involved the facades of the inhabited floors, which were transformed into ventilated facades
The renovation of the house included as finishing for the main facades an external skin of high technical and aesthetic prestige consisting of Doga.X by PREFA in white color P.10, a 16 cm rock wool cladding. For the secondary facades, a 14 cm EPS cladding was used. The intervention required solving the issue of the window and door frames, which the architects addressed with another product from PREFA, a leading company in the sector: the Prefalz cladding, used here in the color P.10 terracotta red, contrasting with the white of the facade and harmonizing with the tones of the roof and the base
The modernization of Condominium Alba B is a skillful play of volumes and contrasts between colors and materials that embodies in every detail a technological choice for efficiency and quality. A challenge won thanks to the collaboration with supplying companies and their expert technicians. In addition to the facades of the inhabited floors, intervention was carried out on every part of the building with skill, such as the base that was repainted in red brick and the overhangs thermally insulated with high-density materials and reduced thickness
