The Beauty Hub L'Oréal Italy completes The Sign in Milan

Southwest of Milan, The Sign is complemented by the new headquarters of L'Oréal Italia designed by Progetto CMR: a sustainable, multifunctional business district that is permeable to the city, born from an urban regeneration project that reconnects people, nature, and work.

A new urban centrality

The Sign rises in the area once occupied by the former Vedani Foundry, now transformed into a hub that intertwines workspaces, green areas, and social spaces. Progetto CMR led the architecture and artistic direction of the entire complex, adopting a vision of urban regeneration through the reuse of existing structures, reduction of land consumption, and creation of a new focal point in the city fabric. Four buildings and two squares define an open and recognizable business district, with a luminous sign that connects pathways and architectures.

Flexible architecture for people's well-being

The building housing the Beauty Hub L'Oréal Italia is designed according to the InsideOut method, which focuses on the well-being and comfort of the users. Fluid spaces, hybrid environments, panoramic terraces, and green areas respond to new ways of working. In line with the most advanced architectural projects, the intervention aims to enhance natural light, air quality, and acoustics, creating a place capable of generating a sense of belonging and fostering creativity and collaboration among people.

Integration between spaces, city, and landscape

The system of light signs - a luminous strip between facades and pavements - becomes the grammar of the urban landscape, connecting squares, paths, and perspectives. The wide opening at the base of the building acts as an urban portal, connecting the present and future of the district. New tree-lined areas and zones dedicated to relaxation give back to the community a place for leisure, contributing to the construction of a Milan that is increasingly polycentric, open, and oriented towards collective well-being.

Certifications and sustainability towards the future

The new headquarters of L’Oréal Italy is designed to achieve LEED Platinum certification and Platinum WiredScore score, thanks to high-efficiency systems, radiant ceilings, optimized air exchange, and energy production from photovoltaics. The BMS system intelligently manages lighting, air conditioning, and security, reducing consumption and environmental impact. The Sign is also the first project in Italy to obtain BiodiverCity certification, promoting the presence of butterflies, bees, and small animals in the complex's garden, for a truly inclusive urban ecosystem.
