In the Gimme Shelter, the designers of Housescape Design Lab intended to make the area open and spacious. In the bar/restaurant, people become real "users of the space," not just and simply "customers": for example, the bar area is open for meal preparation, you can see the food preparation so that people can have an equal level of interaction both at the table and with the staff
Simplicity and elementary character traits of Gimme Shelter
In conceiving Gimme Shelter, the designers were rowing against the tide: instead of an increasingly glitzy and Instagrammable architecture, they proposed an elemental architectural action capable of leaving an indelible mark in our minds
The message of Gimme Shelter is one of simplicity: "true architecture will only leave an indelible mark in our minds by elementary architectural action." Allowing space for different types of people and creating different social dimensions is another major goal of this project
The bar and restaurant are also joined by an office and a workshop. The latter, along with a small garden, are hidden in a small space in the back. The materials used are mainly industrial, adapted to the atmosphere created
