The combination of materials in Casa Fuensanta, which offers privacy but without giving up open space

300 km from Madrid, in Ciudad Real, the specific urban planning constraints limit the dimensions of Casa Fuensanta, which results in two volumes attached to the borders of the lot, and conceived as blind boxes in reinforced concrete with a transparent central volume

The muka arkitectura studio has studied the urban constraints of the area in the best possible way, proposing a volume that occupies the maximum height allowed and the setback established. The division of the volumes of Casa Fuesanta, in reinforced concrete and glass, generates a kind of dualism of materials

As a result of urban planning requirements, the two volumes attached to the limits of the lot that contain garages, kitchen, toilets and a dormitory are conceived as "blind boxes" made of reinforced concrete, without openings, while the central unit is lower, allowing an upper terrace on the flat roof, and is conceived as a "transparent box" with living areas that need more light

The smaller units made of stacked glass allow light to enter while maintaining privacy inside, without sacrificing the concept of open space. The combination of the materials used enhances the abstract reading of the composition of this unique house
