The non-profit organization Quartier des Spectacles is proposing a series of public art installations and cultural activities anchored in Place des Festivals, in downtown Montreal, to combat the impacts of covid on the territory and revive the city's economy

The Quartier des Spectacles Partnership set out to bring people back to the streets after the closure of much of the city in a safe, healthy and engaging way, through special performances, the creation of new public spaces, animated pedestrian zones, exhibitions and art installations

The programme, which ran from July to October, focused on an infrastructure of public squares set up by artists and designers, helping to support local businesses and restaurants. Thanks to actors, dancers, musicians, circus performers and street artists, pedestrian zones and public spaces have been literally illuminated

The summer initiative laid the foundations for a winter programme of Luminotherapy, the largest competition for temporary public art installations, which featured a circuit of 5 installations: a truly immersive journey of interactive sound and light, transforming the darkness of an unforgettable winter
