Iconic bridge in China: the Lucky Knot connects, enlightens and entertains
Of the unique series of bridges designed by NEXT, the Lucky Knot for the Chinese megacity Changsha maintains its architectural canons: it engages the social context and offers new perspectives
Designed to accommodate recreational, ecological, and tourist activities, the bridge connects multiple levels at different heights (the riverbanks as well as the street and the park at the highest level) by literally and metaphorically "knotting" them together
"The form of the Lucky Knot was inspired by the principle of the Mobius Ring, as well as by Chinese knot art. In ancient Chinese decorative folk art, the knot symbolizes luck and prosperity," John van de Water (NEXT architects team Beijing) says.

The Lucky Knot connects, enlightens and entertains. The bridge offers spectacular views of the river, Meixi Lake, Changsha City and the surrounding mountain range. With its extraordinary LED light show, the bridge is set to become a landmark in the light path that traces the Dragon King Harbour river route
