Olivetti and Architecture. A cultural and social history through photography

Olivetti's universe is revisited through the images of his architecture, designed by the Architect Photographer Gianluca Giordano who with his work goes beyond representation and is the first photographer to apply for a Compasso d'oro (Golden Compass)

Born from an initiative to investigate the Olivetti universe in an interdisciplinary key, the architecture photographer Gianluca Giordano, continues this project to deepen a chapter of recent Italian history. His photos have been selected for the official dossier of the " Ivrea industrial city of the twentieth century " nomination and UNESCO World Heritage Site

Gianluca Giordano, a trained restorer who doesn't only show the works commissioned by Adriano Olivetti to the most famous architects of the 20th century, between the 30s and the 80s, but also narrates a model of a city designed for its users through photography, an idea with timeless relevance

This project has the power not only to remind us of the genius of its "patron", but also to re-educate us in architecture and restore it to its function as a social educator. In fact, the iconographic core of the work underlines the importance of the image as a means of communication and the importance of photography in bringing the culture of the Project back to the centre
