The house which poses as a tree: House in the Orchard

Among six fruit trees, there is one in particular that stands out, House in the Orchard: a single-family house that with its small size and character seeks to integrate with its context

House in the Orchard is designed by Šépka architekti: orientation, slope of the lot, as well as context played a significant rolein the design of the house shape. The view of the living room faces the valley and the Rokytka stream, while the other rooms are oriented to the east and south

Thanks to a skylight, the living room, located to the north, also receives lighting to the south. The building's floor plan is derived from the shape of a circle, which on the south side takes the form of two squares, where the building's bedrooms, kitchen and bathrooms are located. The house is designed as a wooden house with a concrete foundation, minimized on the steep slope

A steel walkway helps make the structure more stable. The irregular shape of the building is divided into planar triangular compartments, which ensure the structural strength of the wooden construction and also allow for the placement of birch plywood boards. The wooden construction can be recognized on the inside, and from the outside, the building is insulated with polyurethane with a waterproof top protective spray
