A private house, located in the old town of Safed, Israel, between old stone buildings and crowded houses, is being renovated, highlighting the interaction between trend and tradition, old and new
The project involved both conservation and restoration of parts of the building and the connection between the external and internal space
In the new house, the external courtyard serves as a public space, while the private spaces are located in the peripheral areas
After a phase of documentation and familiarization with the formal and material aspects of the site, a consolidation of the building followed
The designers claim that the history can be seen through the stones, the vaults, the arches, the original niches, while materials such as steel, cement, glass represent the new
The project includes a play area and a storage room on the cellar level, while on the ground floor there is a kitchen, a dining area and a living room
On the intermediate level there is a reception area plus a bathroom with shower and on the upper level, there is a bedroom and a study with bathroom
Finally the last level looks like a big balcony
