Apartment in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. The interiors are cleared and redesigned

The project consists of the renovation of an apartment in a building dating back to the 19th century. The original layout, which appeared to be very compartmentalized is completely redesigned based on the needs of the new tenants

The apartment faces the street and features a bright interior patio, with the center of the home extremely compartmentalized. The first step was to clear out the central part in order to convert it into a single space, which could accommodate different domestic activities

Communication between all the other spaces, as well as the views is improved. The central space contains a dining room, kitchen and entrance hall as well as a ceramic lattice screen that separates the entrance and dining room. The element is extremely light and unites and divides the space at the same time

The uniqueness of this screen is that you can see through it differently while standing or sitting. In the second case, a central hole framed with wood enables a wider view thus increasing the perception of space. Another element that is inserted in the central space is a volume containing the kitchen which is also made of ceramic
