Cantilevered terraces and stone walls for a hotel in Austria. Relaxation becomes Design

The roots of the mill in Obergurgl date back to 1627, but it only became famous after the landing of Piccard and Kipfer's balloon. With the renovation by architect Rainer Schöpf, this paradise stretching over 1900 metres is now a perfect combination of relaxation and design

Located at an altitude of 1900 meters, the Mühle Resort is a suitable place for both active and idle vacationers, thanks to the activities available in the area. Magdalena and Emanuel Gstrein-Nösig have "inherited" the family hotel and have renovated it in an ambitious way

The S2Architektur design studio and the builders have worked hard to achieve it on time. The project by architect Rainer Schöpf involves combining wood and stone, playing with their textures, creating special combinations that have made the structure modern and extraordinary

To enhance the golden tones of the wood, the architect chooses to use a geopietra wall which thanks to its refined shades of gray, portrays the perfect balance between the two components of the project, one soft and gentle and the other bold

Externally, the geopietra wall is used for the base of the first floor, where the grey shade, rich in chiaroscuro of the Cascata model, gives a solid and strong structure that supports the large cantilevered terraces of the new wooden structure. The interiors are also clad in stone once again by Geopietra. Here, the Blumone model with its elongated, jagged shapes creates lively, vibrant walls that redefine the Tyrolean tradition. In the interior, the architect has constantly sought a game of contrasts and balances between rough and smooth, rigid and soft, warm and cold
