Historical Archives in Andalusia. A journey through the vestiges of times gone by

Architect Pablo Millan renovates an old 16th-century palace in Porcuna, a small Spanish town in Andalusia, transforming it into a space with a dual use: the upper floor is used as an archive and the lower floor as an exhibition space

The historical building has a small plot area, about 160 square metres, and contains both archaeological remains of a past structure, a Roman drainage system as well as the remains of a Roman wall and a medieval tower

In view of this, the architect decided to create a space characterised by a plain, clean and simple architecture, which would act as a container for the old estate. The project will therefore be a journey through the vestiges of the past
