Housing in a rural village of Empordà. From a large summer residence to a permanent one

In Sant Mori, a protected rural Spanish village in the Empordà, architecture firm MESURA transforms a house from a large family summer residence to a permanent residence for two, reducing the living space to only a small part

The building is reduced to the kitchen with the adjacent porch, the couple's favorite space. By reducing the view to a small window on the garden, it was then decided to widen the view, removing a wall that is replaced by the glass door

This creates a larger kitchen and living room area, without affecting the original structure of the house. In this area a unidirectional beam is constructed, which acts as a roof and extends up to an old pillar constructed on the porch, on which the entire construction rests with an additional piece of concrete

At the point where the beam ends, the wooden modules are used as walls, which can be either open or closed according to weather and climate conditions and can alternate between indoor and outdoor areas
