Lobby of a tower
New design for the entrance hall of a tower. Flexible and welcoming space

UNStudio redesigns the entrance area of a tower in Amsterdam, built in 2009 by creating a flexible space capable of adapting to various events, both informal meetings and larger events to establish a strong identity for the building

The new entrance area creates a renewed environment, capable of promoting interaction and communication. There were originally two lobbies, then they were joined together and redesigned, adjusting the style to the building and the surrounding neighbourhood

Thanks to the flexibility of the original architectural design, it was possible to make changes. The new project continues in the same vein, designing a flexible and welcoming space in the entrance area, suitable for both informal meetings and larger events

The new design gives the building a strong identity: the chandelier, composed of Corion surfaces and copper tubes, guides people from outside into the hall. The reactive lighting illuminates the chandelier, projecting different atmospheres according to the days and seasons of the year. The materials used bring warmth to the interior, with wooden floors, textile walls and built-in furniture
