NN06: what if objects were the leading players in a renovation?
Can simple furniture transform an office into a home? This is the case of the NN06 project, a former office in Madrid, transformed through suspended metal objects, characterized by the color blue, and wooden furniture
Furniture is the protagonist of NN06. The word "mobile" is derived from the Latin "mobilis", meaning that which can be transported. Roman law already defined goods in two main categories: movable (tools, clothing, furniture, instruments, etc.) and immovable (land, buildings, etc.). Based on this distinction, furniture may seem almost useless, but it is precisely this aspect that is the focus of the home project
The objects that enrich the project are divided into two large families, which are distinguished by their material content: wood or metal. The blue painted metal elements hang structurally on the walls, without touching the ground. The main element is a "T"-shaped metal bookcase placed in the center of the house, suspended a few cm from the ground, suspended between the load-bearing walls of the building
The wooden elements, on the other hand, rest on the pre-existing floors, which have been treated to lose their surface coatings, recovering a raw, structural character. The most intimate areas of the house, bedrooms and living room, are provided with plywood platforms, slightly raised, supported on wood slats
These elements can be easily removed when you leave the house, just like the rest of the interventions: NN06 aims to reinforce the value of the movable asset over the static asset
