Stuart Shave's signature art gallery takes space in a historic London building, which is being reclaimed by giles reid architects. The Austrian painter Martha Junghwirth was featured in the first exhibition of works in the gallery

The main wooden facade is recovered and painted black. On the ground floor, the gallery consists of a single room, lit from the front, with a staircase inserted at the back that leads to a second, smaller, square-sized gallery

Here a new wooden façade faces a light well below the street. The restoration process uncovered slabs of glazed brick, previously hidden behind decades of paint
All rooms are unified by the smallest floor details and track lighting. The intention is to create an interior that is neither entirely modern nor traditional, but an appropriate addition to the street

The solid walnut furniture comes from the studio of American woodworker George Nakashima (1905-1990). Other freestanding furniture is by Le Corbusier, Jean Prouve, and Hilton Marlton
