DOD Building together with architects dello studio m-i-r-a in the design for Casa Alba want to reflect the qualities of the Gracia neighborhood: sophisticated while popular, a local atmosphere along with a vibrant cultural scene. This results in three serene spaces that combine an appealing local character with progressive and creative design
Original features shape and inspire the new design: traditional ceramic tiles are preserved on the floor; Catalan vaulted ceilings along with the original exposed brick walls continue to stamp their indelible mark on the space. The apartments are well lit by natural light thanks to large windows and white walls. Glazed terrace doors reduce the barrier between inside and outside, while the new apartments' open-plan layouts and high ceilings amplify the sense of space
Polished concrete flooring runs seamlessly through all the properties, creating a contemporary finish that complements the original decorative tiles with neutral simplicity. The building's alabaster facade sustains the elegant charm of a typical Gracia home, with traditional stucco details and contrasting new dark brown windows. The result even on the exterior is a design that is both traditional and fresh, echoing the style of the interior
