The Vietnamese studio, H&P Architects, designs and manufactures this prototype of a house made entirely of bamboo, Blooming Bamboo Home, which can be built in 25 days

Due to strong natural phenomena, including tropical storms, floods, and landslides, there is considerable damage in Vietnam each year on a global scale, with over 500 people being displaced from their homes. This greatly reduces the development and recovery of the areas involved
The objective of the firm was to find a solution to the housing problems of millions of people affected by these catastrophes, taking into account local materials, speed of implementation and unskilled labor. Hence, the project, which then became a prototype, was born
Using the standard bamboo module, which varies in diameter from 8 to 10 cm, with a length of 3.3 to 6.6 meters, each house is simply assembled by bolting, binding and positioning. The roof of the house can then be finished in accordance with the local climate and regional materials (bamboo, bamboo-shavings, wood fiber, coconut leaf, etc.) to create a vernacular architecture
Once stretched at its joints, this monolithic architecture is strong enough to withstand natural phenomena. Its greatest strength however, is its speed of construction, 25 days. Furthermore, if you think of the house as a series product composed of modules, the total cost of the house would only be about $2500
The project begins with the study of the area, proposing a solution that integrates architecture, ecological development and economic stabilization. The project is location-oriented, and it also teaches how alternatives to contemporary constructions can be offered
