Co-working in downtown New Orleans. Wooden interiors and vintage furniture in a former warehouse

The shop is the name of the co-working space designed by U.S. studio EskewDumezRipple located on the third and fourth floors of the Contemporary Arts Center in a historic former warehouse from the 1920s intended for technological, artistic and cultural enterprises.

The Shop serves as a true hub of entrepreneurship, with its 40,000 square feet of co-working space for a diverse group of creative professionals across multiple industries. The light-filled space features high ceilings with exposed wood beams, large windows and art collections

The vintage furniture, which characterizes the space was purchased from a variety of vendors to give the seating areas an even more authentic feel. Wallpapers or decorative applications create an even more cozy and intimate atmosphere, while the existing brick is left exposed to enhance the project's industrial patina

The project includes both private offices and open-plan work spaces. Daylight streams throughout the space, creating an open atmosphere while maintaining privacy and security. An internal staircase connects the two floors, creating continuity between the third and fourth floors.

The project's approach is distinctly sustainable: single-glazed windows were replaced with those having insulated glass to reduce heat gain and air infiltration, insulation was added to the roof and LED architectural lighting reduces energy consumption.
