From the future to the present: the DSS2016 Pavilion as an experimental area for thinking about the city of tomorrow

The creators of Pavilion DSS2016 try to work backwards, from the future to the present, to see what impact an information pavilion could have on San Sebastian, the European Capital of Culture: a public space containing the city's future

The assembly of 278 benches, with a metal structure and wooden seats, which can be combined in different ways, create the DSS2016 Pavilion, designed by Zuloark. All the seats of the benches face inwards, forming a continuous folding wooden plane and a support for the waterproof fabric of the tent

The strategy of designing a pavilion made of benches goes in favour of sustainable architecture, which promotes the reuse of materials and the optimisation of projects. The desire of the designers is that the pavilion should allow everyone to transform their daily lives by using it

The settlement housing the pavilion is very special, probably the best and most representative place in the city, the hub of a society strongly rooted in the sea. DSS2016 pavilion blends in well with its shape and size
