House W1T in wood and concrete for sustainable living and architecture with dynamic spaces

On the eastern outskirts of Tulln, Austria, a large single-family dwelling is hidden behind a closed facade. With access from the street to the north, the House W1T structure stretches from north to south

The design by juri troy architects for House W1T is presented on the street side with a concrete block ground floor and wood-framed upper floors, creating a composition of two distinctly separate solids. The ground-level volumes are offset from each other so that on the street side a covered entrance area is created, and on the garden side is a covered loggia. In between, a generous but differentiated living space is created. Toward the south, the building opens up more and more until it flows into the garden

As soon as one enters the building, a visual line of sight leads to the greenery outside. The glazed living space allows the outside and inside to merge, creating an open atmosphere. The upstairs children's rooms are on multiple levels, creating playful niches under the sloping roof. The master bedroom and bathroom are connected by a terrace that allows light to flood the interior and provides additional hidden outdoor space

The ground floor and basement have a concrete structure. This raw character can be read in the entrance hall floor, where exposed concrete is encountered along with soft surfaces of white fir and white oiled ash. The upper floor has a solid wood structure installed on the concrete base. The construction principle is carried to the outside through fiber cement paneling facades in the lower part and vertical wooden battens in the upper part.
A geothermal heat pump ensures sustainable energy consumption, further supported by controlled ventilation of the living space with heat recovery
