The site in question was previously occupied by a small existing building, which was removed and replaced with the new one with a less interfering design and in relation to its surroundings as if it were a continuation of them
Restaurant perched on the Austrian Alps. Breathtaking scenery and 360-degree panoramic views
"The Eagle" is the name of the project for the long-awaited restaurant perched on the peak of the Kreischberd mountain in the Austrian Alps, with a shape reminiscent of an abstract eagle which has been completed by Viereck Architects
The main elevations of the restaurant to the north and east are made entirely of glass and offer spectacular views of the landscape. The remaining parts of the facades are also made of glass and alternate with closed panels
The interior of the restaurant is completely clad in wood and stone and attempts to adapt to the stereotype of mountain huts but interpreted in a modern and contemporary way. The CLT superstructure is covered with glass panels of up to 6 metres high, offering spectacular views of the ski slopes and mountain ranges
Large CLT beams, arranged in the shape of a star, define the restaurant space. The triangular areas between the beams are filled with perforated wood acoustic panels, which act as a false ceiling where the ventilation and electrical systems are concealed
The entire interior space is filled with suspended lamps made of compressed felt which convey the idea of a swarm of birds flying through the building. These in combination with perforated wooden ceiling panels create a fantastic acoustic experience throughout the restaurant
