FS Residence is an architectural intervention characterized by a limited budget and the pursuit of a pleasant look with large and comfortable spaces that give the feeling of living outside the city

The FS Residence, located in Santiago, Chile, stands on the preserved concrete structure of the existing building. The client's request to Estudio Dikenstein Arquitectos was for a protected outdoor space that would accommodate 3 cars, a spacious and airy interior for the common living areas, arranged on the ground floor, and 3 bedrooms

Originally, the residence was one level, facing north, with a masonry structure. The challenge was to respect the existing structure as much as possible in order to maintain the reinforced concrete and some brick walls. Non-structural partitions were demolished and part of the main structure of the east wing of the existing residence where the facade was recessed so a front garden was created with space for three cars

The project therefore focuses on freeing up the outdoor space for the new garden; the old building originally of one floor is given a new level and the connection between the two floors is made with a suspended walkway in the living area which creates a pleasant play of volumes. On the ground floor we focus on the living room around which the other living functions develop. At the same level is located the master bedroom with bathroom, the guest bathroom, the kitchen and the storeroom. On the second floor there are two bedrooms with storage, a bathroom, office and terrace

The residence combines the light, the openness of the spaces, the nobility of its materials with the use of wood, glass and concrete, and the minimalist/contemporary style in a space with limited resources, presenting a new way of residing the daily space
