House Dique Luján, traditional wooden construction suspended

The architecture studio FRAM Arquitectos designs a house in the vicinity of the Luján River, an area characterized by plains and bodies of water, with architecture deeply related to the environment in which it is located.

The natural context in which the project is located

The house is located in Dique Luján, a small town in the province of Buenos Aires, situated in the area between the Luján River and the Villanueva Canal. It is a city characterized by plains surrounded by large bodies of water, which support abundant tropical vegetation.

An architectural project integrated into the environment

Casa Dique Luján designed by FRAM, an architectural studio specialized in architecture projects for low-budget houses, is perfectly integrated into its environment, both horizontally by respecting and incorporating the existing vegetation, and vertically by designing the floor level above flood level. This latter feature is typical of traditional constructions in the area, which separate the living level from natural expansion.

The internal structure

The house is longitudinally positioned on the south side. The service rooms are located to the south, while the main rooms are on the opposite side, gaining space and views of the surrounding nature. Three courtyards break the continuity of the roof. The largest courtyard is symbolized by the staircase that creates an additional connection with the outdoor space.

The traditional facade

The house facade recalls the architectural character of the area. The elevation of the house from the ground is achieved through reinforced concrete beams supported by tree trunks. A series of structural frames delimit the internal and external spaces, serving both a load-bearing and spatial function.
