The House Tre Prismi. An interplay of spatial matriosche in a progression of intimacy and unexpected viewpoints

In the very center of Bologna, from the renovation of an apartment on the main floor of a historic building, Casa tre prismi takes shape: a scalar project that transforms the traditional layout from the rooms connected in sequence, a game of boxes that identify functional rooms in a progression of intimacy

The interior design by MIRO architects included the demolition of the dividing walls in the central room; this created space for three large rooms, two of which have a single overlook, so they cannot be further divided. To further define the volume of each individual room, the architects devised the three containing prisms

The three boxes that give Casa tre prismi its name preserve the rooms from encroaching furniture elements by replacing them. In addition, the prisms with an anthracite exterior finish in combination with vibrant-colored interiors, with their geometric openings, playfully and unexpectedly fit into the original structure whose molded ceilings have been preserved

In the living area, formed by a single room, the prism characterized by the peacock-green interior contains a kitchen, laundry room and entry wardrobe. From the play area in the children's room there is access through a circular hole to a second prism with a pink interior that contains beds, a loft and walk-in closet

In the parents' room, the interior of the third prism in deep navy blue embraces the bed and together conceals the closet and private bathroom. The three autonomous volumes with respect to the structure of the rooms generates the perception of a living area that pervades the entire apartment
