Dream Home: interior design for a more fluid and functional living

In the province of Naples, an 1980s apartment is transformed by the interior design project Dream Home: from fragmented spaces shaped by outdated concepts, such as the formal living room and long corridors, it becomes a bright residence with spacious rooms and contemporary solutions for space and furnishings

The desire for a home full of light and suitable for contemporary life and taste

Architect Mara Castaldo, in the residential renovations and interior design projects she works on for her clients, brings empathy to the forefront: understanding the desires of the inhabitants allows her to carry out the entire process of renovating their home in an atmosphere full of synergy and satisfaction. Dream Home is an example of this: the clients' aspiration to have a home full of light, comfortable and functional, suitable for contemporary life and taste is transformed into reality

The relationship as the main function of the new spaces

The approximately 110 square meters of the apartment are redistributed in such a way as to have a living area that becomes the heart of family life. The relationship is at the center as the main function of these spaces: the kitchen is no longer just the place to prepare and consume meals but, moved to a larger environment, it contains convivial corners like the large peninsula; the living room, directly accessible from the entrance in an enticing see-through, is in fluid communication with the kitchen and offers comfort and hospitality to both residents and guests

A more efficient layout in an elegant and welcoming home

The pre-existing hallway that separated the old kitchen from the living room is transformed into a new space dedicated to other functions: the study, the main bathroom which becomes larger, and a new and convenient pantry. The layout in the sleeping area is also reorganized more efficiently; for example, the corridor is reduced by moving the entrance to the second bathroom. The latter becomes larger, and space is also obtained for an antechamber/walk-in closet. In addition to the wood flooring and some furnishings that provide materiality and warmth, the color scheme between the tones of taupe in contrast with petrol blue makes the home elegant and, at the same time, welcoming
